I’m so excited to start my holiday cookie baking. So excited that even though I was gone all weekend, I found myself baking this batch Sunday night before bed. Fresh oven baked cookies make a great midnight snack.

I spotted these winter edition Oreos at the grocery store. It’s the regular flavored Oreos but the cream is colored red and there are four holiday designs on the cookies. I had been planning on making my chewy cookies and cream cookies again for my holiday cookie baking and knew Oreos would make the cookies even more festive.

These cookies are some of my favorite from this year. Crispy on the outside, chewy and soft on the inside. Cookies and cream mixed throughout the cookie. Yum. The red adds a nice festive color.

Chewy Cookies and Cream Cookies

These cookies are one of my favorite holiday cookies to make. Crispy on the outside, chewy and soft on the inside with cookies and cream mixed throughout the cookie. Yum. Plus, the red adds a nice festive color.

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • about 14 oreo cookies


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until dough is formed. Add Oreos directly into the batter and beat on medium-high speed until Oreos are crushed and blended into dough. 
  3. Roll dough into balls about 1 1/2 inch in diameter and place onto ungreased cookie sheets lined with parchment paper about 2 inches apart.
  4. Bake about 11-12 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden around the edges. Cookies will be initially puffy when taken out from oven and will flatten after they cool.
